WINDSHEAR NEWS - MARCH 2008
Thank you for visiting. Windshear News is a continuing series of newsletters designed to provide the latest updates to customers, potential customers, and people who have expressed interest in Windshear. If you have specific questions regarding Windshear, please contact us directly. Telephone and email information is contained at the bottom of the newsletter.

Commissioning
The commissioning process is well underway at Windshear. Commissioning a wind tunnel as sophisticated as Windshear’s is a very complex process. That includes testing all systems independently and as a system as well as carefully tuning the aerodynamics of the air circuit. Finally, customer readiness testing will ensure that every facet of a customer session will have been practiced over and over again to adequately prepare for customers.

The unique features that separate Windshear from other wind tunnels around the world also multiply the complexity of commissioning such a system. Some of those features are the full scale, single-belt rolling road (one of only three in existence); the closed-loop, temperature controlled air circuit; and the 5100 HP carbon fiber bladed fan.

Opening Date
Windshear will open to its first customers in September 2008. As much as we would like be available sooner, and demand has been strong for an earlier opening, the opening date has been set given the importance of properly commissioning and sufficiently testing in real world customer scenarios well before opening the doors to race teams. For more information about specific available dates, contact the sales team at Windshear.
Sales and Marketing
Sales of wind tunnel time has been strong. Most manufacturers and individual teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, and some in the IRL and Formula 1 series have visited Windshear in recent weeks. A number of these same organizations have signed up for time in 2008 and 2009.
Formula 1
A recent tour of F1 race teams in Europe uncovered strong interest in testing at Windshear. As negotiations are underway with the first of those teams, the expectation is that F1 will find Windshear a good source of high quality aerodynamic testing at a reasonable price due to the favorable exchange rate. Being based near Charlotte, North Carolina, non stop flights are available from many European cities. Contact the sales team at Windshear for more information about the availability of F1 testing.

Availability of Time
As of late March, Windshear has sold almost 50% of its available time for 2008 and has commitments for about 75% of the year. In addition, the most desirable time slots are disappearing quickly. It is important to know that Windshear has limited number of hours available during 2008.
Visits to Windshear
If you are interested in touring the Windshear facility or just meeting with us, contact us at the phone number or email address contained at the end of this newsletter. We are happy to arrange a meeting anytime and can arrange tours for select times, based on testing schedules.
Grand Opening
Windshear is looking forward to its grand opening festivities sometime in July. At that time, customers, potential customers, the press, and dignitaries from the state, county, and city will be invited to see the finished product and share in celebrating Windshear as the first commercially available wind tunnel of its kind in the world. We’ll update you on the specific date in future issues of Windshear News.
